The Train of Life

Anon

Some folks ride the train of life

looking out the rear,

Watching miles of life roll by,

And marking every year.

They sit in sad remembrance,

of wasted days gone by,

and curse their life for what it was,

and hang their head and cry.

But I don't concern myself with that,

I took a different vent,

I look forward to what life holds,

And not what has been spent.

So strap me to the engine,

as securely as I can be,

I want to be out on the front,

to see what I can see.

Train of life continued

I want to feel the winds of change,

Blowing in my face,

I want to see what life unfolds,

As I move from place to place.

I want to see what's coming up,

not looking at the past,

Life's too short for yesterdays,

it moves along too fast.

So if the ride gets bumpy,

while you are looking back,

go up front, and you may find,

your life has jumped the track.

The enjoyment of living,

Is not where we have been,

it’s always looking forward,

to what is done and seen.

It's searching all the byways,

with pleasure and with pain,

for if you want to live your life,

you gotta drive the train!

Our Father Kept A Garden

Anon

Our Father kept a garden.

A garden of the heart;

He planted all the good things,

That gave our lives their start.

He turned us to the sunshine,

And encouraged us to dream:

Fostering and nurturing

The seeds of self-esteem.

And when the winds and rain came,

He protected us enough;

But not too much because he knew

We would stand up strong and tough.

His constant good example,

Always taught us right from wrong;

Markers for our pathway that will last

a lifetime long.

We are our Fathers garden,

We are his legacy.

Thank you Dad we love you.

In our hearts you'll always be

My Mother Kept A Garden

Anon

My Mother kept a garden.

A garden of the heart;

She planted all the good things,

That gave my life it's start.

She turned me to the sunshine,

And encouraged me to dream:

Fostering and nurturing

The seeds of self-esteem.

And when the winds and rains came,

She protected me enough;

But not too much, she knew I'd need

To stand up strong and tough.

Her constant good example,

Always taught me right from wrong;

Markers for my pathway

To last my whole life long.

I am my Mother's garden,

I am her legacy.

And I hope today she feels the love,

Reflected back from me.

I Heard Your Voice

In The Wind Today

Anon

I heard your voice in the wind today

and I turned to see your face;

The warmth of the wind caressed me

as I stood silently in place.

I felt your touch in the sun today

as its warmth filled the sky;

I closed my eyes for your embrace

and my spirit soared high.

I saw your eyes in the window pane

as I watched the falling rain;

It seemed as each raindrop fell

it quietly said your name.

I held you close in my heart today

it made me feel complete;

You may have died...but you are not gone

you will always be a part of me.

As long as the sun shines...

the wind blows...

the rain falls...

You will live on inside of me forever

for that is all my heart knows.

Remember Only My Best

Anon

When I come to the end of my journey

And I travel my last weary mile,

Just forget if you can any frowns –

And remember only my smile.

Forget any dark words spoken,

But remember the good I have done.

Forget that there ever was heartache,

Just remember the laughter and fun.

Forget that I stumbled and blundered

And sometimes fell by the way;

Remember – I fought some hard battles,

And won some, by close of the day.

So do not grieve for my going,

And don’t be sad for a day,

But in Summer just gather some flowers

And come to the place where I lay,

And then in the shade of the evening,

When the sun paints the sky in the west;

Stand for a moment beside me –

And remember only my best.
